Begonia Majestic White Picotee PlantsMr Fothergill’s is offering a range of tuberous-rooted begonias with double flowers up to 20cm (8in) across for the 2014 season.  Begonia Majestic Plants Series F1 impressed the company’s Tom Stimpson when he saw it in trials during the summer of 2013.

“All five colours packed quite a punch!” says Tom.  “The plants were very strong and almost smothered in beautifully ruffled, fully double heads.  They were bright and vibrant, and held their colours well right through summer without fading.  And as each bloom is long-lasting, dead-heading is not a chore with the Majestics”.  He also reports the plants stand up well to poor weather.

The series includes three solid colours – Red, Orange and Yellow – and two bicolours in apricot and red Sunburst and White/Pink Picotee (pictured here to the right).   All five varieties look particularly effective when planted into large containers and placed on a sunny or partly shaded terrace or patio.  The tubers can be lifted in autumn and stored frost-free for use the following year

Five young plants of any colour or one of each as a collection cost £7.95.  If two collections are bought, the price for each reduces to  just £6.45.  Buy Begonia Majestic Series F1 online or via the catalogue mail order service.
