Judging Criteria

Judges may consider the following;

  • Overall appeal to the judges
  • Number of blooms: Total number of flowers
  • Quality: Free of blemishes, scorching, spots or pest damage

Postal entries:

A suggested way to safely post your entry is described below:

Materials required:

  • Minimum 2 litre drinks bottle, disposable kitchen towel and cling film. A large padded envelope or brown paper covering will also be required for posting.

Sweet Pea postal methodMethod:

  • Remove the top of the drinks bottle just below the ‘shoulder’. Wrap kitchen towel tightly around the stems of the sweet peas and moisten it with water. Insert the sweet peas into the removed neck of the bottle and carefully insert them into the main body of the bottle (as shown in the picture to the right here).
  • Finally wrap the moistened kitchen towel covering the stems in cling film to prevent water damage to the postal wrapping.
  • Don’t forget to include your name, address and daytime telephone number

Aim for your parcel to arrive at Capel Manor by Friday the 17th July. Everyone who enters will receive a £5 Mr Fothergill’s Seeds voucher for use against catalogue purchases.
